50 Art galleries from 31 countries attend Art Dubai

Yesterday, “Art Dubai” announced the participants in the 2021 edition of the exhibition, which included 50 pioneering art galleries in modern and contemporary arts from 31 countries. The exhibition, which is held in partnership with the Culture and Arts Authority, is committed to providing an attendable platform for exhibitions and artists from different countries of the Global South.
This year’s edition will move to its new location in the Dubai International Financial Center within a specially constructed space for the exhibition to ensure that the highest levels of commitment to the precautionary measures associated with the “Covid-19” pandemic are met, providing a safe and secure environment for participants and visitors. The exhibition will open its doors from March 29 to April 3 next.
This year’s edition receives 6 Emirati galleries and 3 Saudi galleries, some of which are participating for the first time, in addition to the Statues Garden, which hosts large installations by eight artists, including Emirati artists Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim and Hussein Sharif, on both sides of the water channels surrounding the Gate Building in the Center of Dubai. Within the artistic projects of this edition, “Art Dubai” presents a new program for films, a project that includes a group of short films. Projectors spread at the entrance to the center to display films produced by more than 20 artists from the region and the world designed to provide a unique experience for the viewer within specific topics such as nature. , Excursions, dialogues, performances, animation, and more.

On the importance of this edition of “Art Dubai” on the Arab and international levels, Hala Khayyat, the regional director of the exhibition, explained that he came to announce the continuity of the global art market in the region and support the Arab artist who is still absent from the international arena. The current conditions that have caused a state of paralysis for most cultural events in the world, but it is considered an important tourist and economic step for the Emirate of Dubai in particular, and for the Emirates in general. Pablo Del Vall, artistic director of Art Dubai, emphasized that the return of the exhibition is considered a human and social need at the same time. In addition to the exhibitions coming from famous and emerging art centers from around the world, visitors can attend exhibitions from countries in the Middle East, South and East Asia such as Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Palestine, Turkey, India, Vietnam, and the Philippines, in addition to a prominent presence from different parts of the continent. African exhibitions include exhibitions from Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, and Tunisia. Ten exhibitions from the Emirate of Dubai will also participate, to reflect the rapid growth witnessed by the local art markets and arena in the emirate.
In addition, the artistic director of “Art Dubai”, Pablo Del Vall, said: “Urban exhibitions are the living soul and the beating heart of the world of art and artists, and the art sector is a sector that has suffered – like other sectors – the events that took place in the past year.”
