Gemstone collectors now have the opportunity to purchase the world’s largest cut diamond, the largest cut diamond in the world. “The Enigma,” a unique black diamond that broke the Guinness World Record for the largest single stone, made its public premiere on January 17 at Sotheby’s Dubai, where it will be on display until January 20. In addition to being on display at the Dubai Diamond Exchange, the one-of-a-kind jewel will also be on display in Los Angeles and London, where it will be available for bidding online from February 3 to February 9.
The carbonado black diamond is an incredibly rare natural event that occurs only once in a lifetime. They are thought to have developed as a result of a meteoric impact or as a result of a diamond-bearing asteroid colliding with the Earth between 2.6 and 3.8 billion years ago, respectively. It contains traces of nitrogen and hydrogen, both of which are abundant in space, as well as osbornite, a mineral that can only be found in meteors and other meteorites.
Additionally, the jewel is endowed with numerical significance in addition to its world-record-breaking size. The Hamsa, a palm-shaped symbol from the Middle East that represents protection from the “evil eye,” was the inspiration for the design of this pendant. This diamond is not just 555.55 carats in weight, but it also has exactly 55 facets, which is in keeping with the number five that is related to the Hamsa symbol.
As Katia Nounou Boueiz, Head of Sotheby’s UAE, stated in a press release, “We are humbled that Dubai has been chosen as the first stop for this remarkable rarity and are thrilled to be playing a part in its journey, which began so many millions of years ago.”
The diamond will be offered for purchase using bitcoin, marking the first time this has happened in the United Arab Emirates.
We are releasing our cryptocurrency service in the UAE for the first time, and this is in keeping with the government’s own commitment to exploring new digital, technological, and scientific advancements.”Our drive to present the best of the best in the UAE continues with the unveiling of this one-of-a-kind stone, which will be shown at our DIFC gallery as well as at the world-renowned Dubai Diamond Exchange,” said Boueiz.
“The Enigma” is a brand-new product that has never been seen before on the market or shown to the general public.
