Over the New Year weekend, Emirates airline anticipates a “peak” in the number of people passing through Dubai International (DXB) airport. The peak period, which begins today and will extend until January 10, is expected to see roughly 1 million passengers departing and arriving in Dubai, according to the airline in a statement.
In accordance with the health measures of Emirates and Dubai International Airports, only passengers with valid tickets will be permitted to enter the terminal. During this busy period, UAE nationals and residents, as well as international travellers traveling from Dubai to Emirates’ extensive network, are asked to adhere to the following principles in order to enjoy a hassle-free journey:
Early check-in options are available
Using the 32 self-service bag drop machines and 16 check-in kiosks provided at Terminal 3, or by visiting one of Emirates’ check-in offices, clients can check in up to 24 hours before their aircraft departure. Passengers flying to the United States can check in at Emirates’ check-in desks up to 12 hours before their flight.
The vehicle park check-in service, which is located adjacent to the Terminal 3 car park area in Zone C, is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is open up to six hours before the scheduled departure. As a result of the elimination of parking fees for customers who use the drop-off lane adjacent to this facility, customers who are dropped off at Terminal 3 Departures Car Park will have an even easier and more convenient check-in alternative, allowing them to enjoy a more pleasant airport experience.
The self-service kiosk will provide boarding passes on the spot, but customers must complete their immigration requirements no later than 60 minutes before their flight’s departure time in order to get their boarding tickets. Emirates’ website and mobile app provide passengers the opportunity to check in online up to 48 hours and until 90 minutes before their aircraft departure, as well as the ability to download digital boarding cards to their mobile phones for certain locations.
Check-in suggestions for the same day
Emirates advises travellers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight to avoid the rush of the holidays and New Year’s Eve, and to make sure they have all of the necessary documentation for their destination.
Customers may take advantage of Emirates’ biometric path in Terminal 3 for smooth and frictionless travel from particular check-in desks, Emirates’ dedicated lounges, and boarding gates to significantly expedite their airport experience. Using the biometric approach, customers can complete their immigration requirements and board their aircraft in a quick and efficient manner, with no need for document checks or queues.
Customers who check in less than 60 minutes before their flight’s departure will not be permitted to board the aircraft.
Following check-in, travelers are reminded to appear at their boarding gate at the scheduled departure time. Gates open 90 minutes prior to flight departure, boarding begins 45 minutes prior to flight departure, and gates close 20 minutes prior to flight departure. It is unlikely that Emirates will be able to accommodate passengers who arrive late at the boarding gate for their flight.
Check-in and gate closure times will be rigorously adhered to in order to ensure that aircraft depart on time and that operations do not suffer as a result of the delays.
